Well, I just found out that I was, unfortunately, correct, and a friend of mine from high school - at least I would call her a friend, I don't know what she would call me - Ms. Katie Chalifoux, passed away on January 4th of a Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) due to complications from a minor motor vehicle accident.
It's not yet the time where people of our generation are supposed to be passing away, especially not the people who honestly care about improving their own lives, and the lives of people around them.
Who knows, maybe if I hadn't convinced her to join the Model United Nations in our junior year, she wouldn't have ended up on the government and international relations track she did and she wouldn't have ended up in the position she was in that ultimately caused her to die so young.
Remember the International Court of Justice in South Kingston in our senior year? You represented the US and I represented South Korea, I think, and together we laced into the the Pakistani and Indian delegations? We secured voting rights for women in Kashmir that day. On paper, in a classroom, we made a difference. Remember that? Then I gave you the last judges' robe to be polite and we paraded from committee to committee making them stand at attention for us?
You know, they gave me an award for my performance that day? Imagine that, after all we had done that day, they gave me a fucking award? But it was us, remember? They meant to give us that award, of course.
Did you know they gave you an award that day?
When I find it, I will give it to you.
I'm done. Really sorry about that everyone. Sane posts will again follow in the next few days.
